Yadah skincare

I'm currently in LA, will be back in three weeks. I'll reply to all comments, emails and messages as soon as I'm back. :)

Hey! Like you all know, my camera is problematic and is currently being serviced so there wasn't much chance for me to blog. So I got incredibly excited when I realised I could blog from my mum's Samsung Tab. The quality's not the best but a little editing helped. So here I am with a little review for you. A while ago, I won a online giveaway that Seventeen Magazine was having. I was soo excited since it was the first giveaway I had ever won. I literally couldn't believe it when I received and email saying I had won RM150 worth of Yadah products.
Yadah is a botanical skincare line specifically targeted at teenagers and young adults. It's a Korean brand that had just recently launched here.
First of all, how cute is that bag! All three products came in that little black glossy makeup/toiletry bag. And they all have super cute and sturdy pacakaging.
I received the Bubble Deep Cleanser, Moisturising Cactus Mist and the Handcream.

Bubble Deep Cleanser
This is probably the product I liked best. It is a gentle foaming facial cleanser that doesn't irratate my skin or sting my eyes. Eventhough the product says suitable for all skin types, I find it can be a little drying around my nose area. I read that foaming products rather than cream or gel tend to be a bit more drying so I think that's why. It leaves my skin refreshed and does not strip the natural oils of my face. It smells amazing, I couldn't place it at first just very fruity but know it reminds me of Mandarin oranges. Also I think it can last quite a bit because I only need half a pump to lather my entire face.

Moisturising Cactus Mist
The Mist I received was a little faulty. It comes in a spray bottle as you can see but the one I received had a problem with the spraying pump thing so I couldn't spray out the actual product. So I poured out a bit on a cotton pad and dab it lightly over my face. I don't think this method worked very well because I find that i put more than enough product on my face which cause my face to be slightly sticky. I think I'll get a little spray travel bottle from the drugstore and use it with that. On to the actual product, I feel this product is a great pick-me-up. It gives a little extra moisture to your face if it's dry and tired so it feels a lot more refreshed.

Handcream
This is probably the product I liked the least. Maybe just because I wasn't too fond of the scent, i can't explain the smell. It's a very nature scent (Sorry i'm horrible at this). Anyway, the product itself is creamy, thin consistency and it sinks fast into your skin. It does moisturize your hands and it supposedly has anti-aging properties. Nothing to great about this so I probably wouldn't repurchase.

I would probably only repurchase the cleanser but then it is pretty pricey for what it is and isn't that easy to find. Saying that, I'd like to try a some products from their makeup line, especially the Angel BB cream. I think Yadah is good skincare line especially for those with sensitive skin as the products are natural and don't aggravate your skin.

In-flight essentials

Sorry for the bad quality
I'm currenly in LA, will be back in three weeks. I'll reply to all comments, emails and messages as soon as I'm back :)

Hi everyone! So I thought I'd share with you some of my essentials for a long flight. As you guys know I'm off to LA and the journey will take around 21 hours. These are some things that I must have with me for such a long flight.

1) Toothbrush/Toothpaste/Mouthwash
This is kinda obvious isn't it. Needa keep those pearly whites clean. Haha. I'm taking minis in my hand luggage to clean my teeth.

2) Comb/Hair ties/Bobby pins
My hair can get really messy and tangly after a nap so i need a comb to straighten out all those knots in my hair. I also bring along hair ties or bobby pins if I want to keep my hair away from my face when I'm eating (or if i'm getting really annoyed with it) and maybe if I want to tie it up so it isn't too messy.

3) Handcream/Lotion
The recycled air in the plane can really dry out your skin especially after being in it for a long time. My hands and elbows especially will become dry and scaly so I bring along some lotion to return some moisture to them.

4) Facewash
Before touchdown, I like freshen up a bit. So I bring my current facewask in a mini bottle (that I stole from an hotel ages ago) to clean my face. This also really helps me get rid of the zombie complexion and make me look more awake. I then like to take a bit of the lotion and dab it on my face to moisturize.

5) Face wipes
If you don't really want to wash your face, this is a simple solution. These wipes easily cleanses your face and refreshes them. I like to use them not only before touchdown but during the flight if my face is feeling tired or dry. This is a great pick-me-up. A moisture mist is a good alternative too.

5) Lipbalm
I cannot go on any flight journey, long or short without this. My lips gets really dry easily especially in the plane so I always need a lipbalm with me at all times to prevent chapped lips. The one I'm currently using is Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lipbalm. Seriously guys, this smells soo yummy. Like pure hot chocolate.

6) Headphones/iPod
How long can you go without music? I always bring my headphones to plug into my phone for a little Top 40 hits ;) I don't have an iPod but if you do, I think it's better to use that.

Holiday!

Source
Hi everyone! I think I mentioned in a post a while ago that I might be going to the States. Well I am! It's all confirmed, my family and I are leaving on this Friday (30/11) and coming back on the 23rd of December. I wanted to tell you guys earlier but it's been so busy. There was a lot to do before out three week long holiday, what with our dogs, the house, the flights, the accomadation and all those other stuff. Haha I'm making it seem as if I'm the one doing all the planning (I'm not my lovely parents and sister are).
Anyways, we're going to California! We'll be visiting Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Sand Diego and San Francisco. If we have extra time, we might wander elsewhere. I'm particularly excited for LA. Hollywood, Disneyland, Universal Studios, there's so much to do. And of course, the shopping there. I'm also very excited to go to Alcatraz in San Francisco, I'm a bit of a history geek, you see.
So I was wondering, if any of you live there or have been there. Wheres the best place for shopping!? Any tips for first-timers like me.  How's the weather there by the way?
I'm not to sure if I'll have any scheduled posts up while I'm gone. I don't think I have time since we're leaving in three days and I haven't even started packing. We still need to buy a few things. The flights pretty long though, 21 hours! I need to get some books to occupy myself or maybe I'll just watch every in-flight movie available. I'll have quite a few posts when I'm back, loads of pictures and maybe a haul or two for you ;)

Christmas Wishlist

Hey!
So holidays have begun. Yay! I'm getting really annoyed because there is always something in the way of me blogging. Right now, it's my camera. There's something wrong with the shutter, it just won't snap pictures.
Anyways, while I try to get that fixed I thought I'd compile my Christmas wishlist. Christmas is coming up real soon so I thought I'd better get prepared. As you can see, most of my wants are technology and pretty pricey but  I have been eyeing them for a very very very long while.

1. iPhone 5
I have wanted an iPhone for so long. My current Android is giving me helluva problems to a point where I can't even receive messages anymore. I would most definitely love an iPhone but I will settle for another Android. Maybe Samsung SIII or Samsung Advanced?

2. Stereo
I really want to be able to listen to music in my room. Right now, I borrow my sister's stereo sometimes but would much prefer my own in my room. I'm not too fussed about it. Just something where I can play my CDs, listen to the radio (FM) and maybe plug in my thumbdrive.

4. Daisy by Marc Jacobs
This perfume is raved about literally everywhere. There are so many positive reviews on blogs and youtube. I  sniffed my friends perfume and I love the scent. I would love either this or Taylor Swift's Wonderstruck.

5. Vans
I haven't decided on the exact pair I want but I know the kind of style I'm going for. Vans are so comfy and look really cool too. Since we're in the shoe category, a pair of Chelsea boots and Combat boots would be lovely too.

6. iPad 3
I was gifted the iPad last year for Christmas by my wonderful dad. I loved it so much and was practically glued to it. Later in the year, I was gutted to hear that my iPad was lost. My dad borrowed it one morning and left it on a table. I'm not entirely sure of the story but basically one minute it was there, the next it was gone. I miss it so much and would love a replacement. I think I prefer this over the iPad Mini though. Hmm, what do you think? iPad 3 or iPad Mini?

7. Nikon D3200 / Nikon D3100
Like I said, our current family camera (Nikon P500) has been acting up. Just giving loads of problem.
I want a camera for myself so I don't have to worry about memory space and someone else using it. A camera that I can use solely for blogging and school projects. Nikon D3100 is also fine. I personally don't know the difference so if some kind soul would explain that to me, it would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have this model, does it work well for you? And if you have a camera that you love, please comment below what model and why. It can be Canon or whatever else. I'm still not too sure what camera model I want yet and your advice would be so helpful.

8. The Wanted album
You probably don't know my slight obsession with them. I absolutely love them all the tracks on this album and would love my very own copy. I also hear loads of good things about Red by Taylor Swift. What do you think?

7. Gift vouchers
I love gift vouchers! I appreciate the thought of someone going out and choosing something especially for you but most of the time the clothes/shoes/watches are not to my taste or size. This is just waaay easier. Elianto, H&M, Topshop, Cotton On, Forever 21 are some of the gift vouchers I would love to have.

So there, my Christmas 2012 wishlist. Well that turned out to be incredibly lengthy. I also say 'love' a lot, sorry! I really should widen my vocabulary. What are some of your gifts you would love to receive? There I go again.

DIY: Bracelet storage

Hey, sorry about my absence. Studying takes up a lot of time. My finals are in two weeks so I'm pretty sure my posts are going to be sparse until my exams are over.
I bought the ceramic animal figurines above when I went through an animal phase. I had this idea that my room was going to be covered with wildlife posters and paintings. My wooden furniture and green walls helped with that plan. Unfortunately after the purchases above being my only animal related item, I grew bored with that idea. It didn't help that what I thought I bought, were some cool realistic statues but in reality were actually salt and pepper shakers. Really, I'm not joking. Oh, how I laughed. Not. Each of these figurines cost me RM 3 so I didn't loose much.
Anyways, I was thinking of throwing them out as I don't run a diner but I thought why waste RM 9.
So up until now my bracelets were store in a jumbled up mess in my jewelry box. I was getting a little tired of my continuous routine of untangling them. That's where the figurines come in. I spray painted the dog and cat black. I would have preferred white to match my room theme but I only had black spray paint. Then arranged my jewelry on them. I still have some bracelets that wouldn't fit in my jewelry box though.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I might have to look for other ways if my collection expands but for now it's perfect.

The Wanted & Maroon 5

 Hey!
I was so extremely lucky to be able to go to two concerts in a week. The Wanted on Monday and Maroon 5 on Thursday. I loved both of them. I am so totally obsessed with TW right now.
The concert was great. The best thing for me is that all the boys were just so interactive with the crowd, and they really knew  how to get everyone pumped. They sang among their hits (Glad you came, Chasing the Sun) Heart Vacancy,Warzone, Gold Forever and a few more. Kyle Patrick who is from the Click 5 opened for them. He sang, among other songs, JENNY! and his new single Go for Gold. I loved Jenny and the crowd did too as we did most of the singing.
My friend had spare tickets for Maroon 5 VIP, so she offered me one. How on earth could I refuse? The crowd has humongous (7000 people) and the show was spectacular. It was a proper concert with light shows and a grand entrance. The Cab (a band from Las Vegas) opened for them. I didn't really know them but I did like one of their songs called Bounce. Next, Adam Levine came on stage and the screams were deafening. He had some crazy cool dance moves and got the crowd moving with his catchy tunes. He started off with Payphone and ended with a remix version on Moves like Jagger. It was really great he even played the drums and guitar. I loved that he tried to draw attention to his band mates as much as possible, so nice of him. But obviously, everyone was just obsessed with Adam.
If you asked me which I liked more, I would say The Wanted. I love both bands (maybe TW a little more) but The Wanted was just incredible. It wasn't the best concert in terms of, well, class? I guess that's the word. But I feel they connected with the crowd a lot more and were really into it. They even had signing which I didn't go but apparently it was jam packed. They get extra brownie points for they're good looks and charm too. Joke. ;)
Sorry about the dodgy pictures by the way. I took them all on my brother's iPod. I didn't feel like lugging around my camera.
Oh and if you're wondering what I wore. For The Wanted: A blue knitted top with a camisole underneath, some high-waisted shorts and my mint converse. Maroon 5: Sheer patterned blouse, tucked in the same high-waisted shorts and my studded brown Bonita flats. All my clothing items are from Cotton On except the flats and converse which are branded. Sorry for no pictures as they are all in the wash.  Click here to see the post in which I featured the converse and blouse.
I am currently suffering from post-concert depression as my friends and I call it. I hope that The Wanted comes back soon (next year, maybe).
All of the photos are from my Instagram. Follow me @shametasiva on mobile or here online.

Book Haul

Hey!
MPH was having a warehouse sale last week so I had to stop by. I haven't gotten any new reads in a long time and it was a pretty good sale. I bought...
Time of my Life, Cecelia Ahern
Viola in Reel Life, Adriana Trigiani
Reckless, Devious, Tempted by Cecily Von Ziegesar
The Lying Game, Never Have I Ever, Two Truths And One Lie by Sara Shephard
The Warlock and The Enchantress by Michael Scott
A quick review on the books I have read which are all three of the it girls and Viola in the Reel Life
I really enjoyed the the it girl novels. If you are into high-school drama and romance then this one is definitely your cup of tea. I liked it a lot and am planning on getting the whole series, I don't have any of the others from this series. Basically, it's about life in Waverly Academy (a co-ed boarding school for the rich) and it's variety of students. Each book has a different story, kinda like what's going on with the students lives. I don't want to get too detailed but I will say this, if you like Gossip Girl then you will love this. I personally loved these books.
Viola in the Reel Life was to me, a summer book. The kind of book which is a pretty good read but isn't all too exciting or adventurous, just okay. The kind of book you don't mind reading but rather not read it again or buy the next book in the series. Viola, a girl interested in film work is shipped off to boarding school by her parents who are shooting in Afghanistan. She was angry with them for leaving her alone in a place where she knows no one but finally understands their true reasons. She quickly becomes close with her four roommates and starts to adjust to her boarding school. Not one of my favourites but I guess it's okay.
I can't wait to start on the other books and more in-depth reviews will be coming soon.
In other news, Prince William and Kate Middleton are in Malaysia right now for the Queen's Jubilee. Kate looks gorgeous as usual and William just as charming. My final exams are starting soon, well in 5 weeks. I feel like I have to do a lot better for this exam as my results for my last exam wasn't very good. So I probably won't be posting enough, I'll try my best though.

Piano Grade 3

Hi guys!
So I'm pretty happy right now because I just got my piano exam results. I PASSED!!! In case you didn't know, I took my Grade 3 practical exam in July and have been waiting nervously since. The moment I stepped out of the exam/hotel room I instantly thought that I was going to fail.
I have a love-hate relationship with my piano. I love playing when I can hear the melody flowing and I'm not messing up but I hate it when I mix up notes or pause a lot which makes gets me so frustrated. That is bound to happen when you are starting out a new piece of music which is why I don't practice often when I'm beginning (this gets my teacher sooo mad). When I get the hang of it, I love playing. I love watching my fingers moving on the keyboard and hearing the music come alive (as cheesy as that sounds). I mostly like playing movie themes and modern music, not a huge fan of classical. I've just done Colours of the Wind (Pocahontas) and am now learning to play My Heart Will Go On (Titanic). I am enjoying these pieces because I actually know how they're suppose to sound like and dread when I will move to classics later on.
Honestly, I didn't practice much and was a huuuuuge procrastinator. I was constantly being reminded by my mum that exam wasn't very far of and yaddiyaddiyah. I didn't really take much notice until it was a week away and then I started to panic. To really panic. I practiced all hours but I thought it wasn't enough.
I had a pretty bad start, I greeted the examiner wrongly (How can I say Good Morning at 3pm???), I almost forgot my scales and I stumbled on my first piece. Not at all a good start. So I thought I was doomed to repeat the grade but I guess not. I did though, worry my piano teacher and mum a lot. My dad's just happy I don't make his ears bleed I guess (And I guess all dads aren't that hard to please).
I got 115 which is 5 marks to a merit. Which is pretty sad, I mean if i had practice a little more I could have gotten a merit. All in all, I'm pretty happy with my marks and the fact that I passed. I'm deffinitely going to try a little harder next time.

Weekend haul

Hey so last weekend, I went with my family to Cosmo's World Theme Park just for something to do. Honestly, I didn't enjoy myself very much. It wasn't crowded which was nice but I'm pretty sure (actually very sure as I have been there more then 5 times before) that they have shorten the duration on the rides. I was kinda disappointing. Anyway, one good thing that came out from the trip is these two buys.
I cannot stress to you enough how long I have been wanting a knapsack like that. It is really in trend now, especially at my school. I personally love this trend! I've always had a soft spot for bags like this. I had a little black one like this ages ago that I brought everywhere and was extremely upset when it broke. I didn't really find another that caught my eye since then. I love this one though. An absolute steal at Rm25. I love the coral colour and the cute stripes. Somehow, I just don't think it is going to last because of the price and well the material but I like it non the less. I'm not going to mind that much if it falls apart as i'm planning on getting a really good, pretty, worth-your-money knapsack in LA.
The sweater, I. Love. It. I have a slight obsession with tigers, nothing scary but I can't help being fascinated by those gorgeous creatures. It does help that I am a tiger baby (My Zodiac Sign) . It was pretty pricey at Rm60 but I couldn't put it down. I chose the beige colour because I wanted the attention on the adorable tiger with a bow tie. It is incredibly soft and so comfortable. The sweater is tad too big for me though. I don't mind, I'll grow I hope. If not, I'll go for the slouchy look.

p.s.  I found a shop/stall that sells entirely popcorn. They have flavours like Cheese, Wasabi, CARAMEL, Curry and more. I got so excited it was silly. Being a popcorn addict, this was a major deal for me ;)

My Top Tracks - August

Hey, So I thought I'd compile my Top Ten Tracks right now. It's a mixture of old and new. Lately, I've been YouTube-ing some of my favourite tracks from last time. I Love Ed Sheeran, his songs are just so soothing/claming and meaningful. Sometimes they reduce me to tears especially this line from Small Bump.

"You were just a small bump unborn for four months then torn from life. Maybe you were needed up there but we're still unaware as why."

It's so sad! His songs are just beautiful. I've been also loving Taylor Swifts new track We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, her songs are always so relatable. And Safe and Sound. I. Love. This. I am a major fan of Hunger Games and this track is so beautiful. It makes me think of the scene where Rue dies or I imagine Katniss singing this to Prim. Whistle, One More Night and Payphone is just so catchy. These songs were on replay in my head since I first heard it. Pound the Alarm makes me wanna get up and dance, really! I like Owl City I have one of their albums and I love it, this collab with Carly Rae Jepsen is great.

DIY: Chevron Nails

Hey guys!
I've got another DIY for you. Chevron pattern is really in trend right now and I love it. I think it's just so pretty and cute.
So basically all you need for this is;

  1. Two nail colours - Be sure to choose two that match
  2. Top coat and base coat - To  prevent staining and to seal in your design
  3. Craft scissors - Get one that has a zig zag pattern
  4. Scotch tape - I'm not sure about other tapes but this one works well with nail designs
  5. Cuticle clipper - A tiny scissors will also work, the clippers are just a tad bit easier
Okay first, take the colour you want as your zig zag and paint a square on the tap. Next, apply base coat and paint your nails with the other nail polish. Once your nails and the colour on the tape is dry, use the scissors and cut thin strips. Not too thick or thin, it depends on how big your nails are. Tape at least two on each nail and make sure you paste them on correctly. I made that mistake with my pointer finger. Use pictures from the internet as your guide. Then using the clipper (or scissors) cut off the excess. Apply top coat and your done!
I love how the design on my thumb came out, not too fond of my ring and pointer finger though. But I guess it's is okay for a first timer.  What do you think of this design?

Mini Haul

Hey!
My whole family went to the mall last weekend just for some new shoes for all of us. So I picked up a couple of things, not much because I ran out of time.
I got the silk green (The lighting in the first picture is off, the second one is more accurate) hi lo shirt from Metrojaya, which is a department store. It's from a brand called Ying Yang. Probably the only clothing item that really caught my eye. I'm seriously liking the Hi Lo trend and this shirt is so pretty. I got the black sleeveless sheer patterned shirt from Cotton On. It was the only thing I picked up because I was with my mum picking out shoes for her and by the time I got there my sister was taking her things to the cashier. So I just grabbed it of the rack in the smallest size (I'm short petite) and added it to her pile. I love it so much! Thank goodness it fits, saves me the hassle of returning it but now I wish I picked up more. There was a bunch of those kind of shirts in different patterns, I wish I got another one. The last purchase is my mint sneakers from Converse. This one is the thick soled one. I wanted another pair that had a thinner sole because this pair was a little heavy for me, I prefer it lighter. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size for any of the lighter ones. Size 5 seemed to be pretty popular that day. I don't mind that much now, it's not as heavy on my feet and I love the bright colour.

Tresemme shampoo & conditioner

Hey,
So I stopped by Watsons the other day for a new shampoo because my Dove one ran out. I've been using Dove for a while now and it hasn't given me any problems, maybe that's why I stuck by it. Anyway I wanted to try to find something new, just to see if there is something better in the market.
I have dry hair. It used to be extremely dry, frizzy and had a few split ends. Back then, I washed my hair everyday because I didn't know any better. With some advice from my friend, I switched it up to washing my hair on alternate days or just every two days and got a shampoo for damaged hair. It helped a lot, I'm not sure if the shampoo helped but not washing my hair everyday worked. My hair was less dry and frizzy and I have no split ends till this day. The reason I chose a shampoo for damaged hair was because it was a lot more moisturizing.
I decided to try the Tresemme' New Advanced Technology Salon Performance Shampoo and Conditioner for dry, frizz prone hair.
First off, the smell. I can't quite place it, it doesn't smell of any fruits or anything like that. The first thing I thought of when I sniffed it was "It smells like the salon" which probably doesn't help cause well, duh. But I like the smell enough. I like it on my hair, you can get a whiff from time to time, it isn't too strong which I like.
I have to say it does reduce frizz and dryness. This product has actually improve my hair. It isn't as frizzy and dry anymore. My hair still needs some extra moisture but this has helped. My hair is also a lot softer and more manageable after using this I actually really like this. It's quite affordable to because most salon brands would come up to over  RM100 while this was I think Rm16 or Rm18 each (they're both the same price), I can't remember. I will definitely repurchase this but maybe I will try a different type. There's one for damaged hair which should be more moisturizing, so I might give that one a go.
Oh by the way, I received the Loreal shampoo as a freebie in a magazine.
Have any of you tried it? What do you think?

Checked Bows

Hey guys!
So I still haven't found the usb yet so I'm probably going to get a new one over the weekend until then please bear with me.
Anyways, I was searching through my computers and found these.
It was bow barrettes that I got from F.O.S. The white checked one caught my eye immediately. I thought it looked too cute so I decided to pick that, as well as the pink one up.
I have amazing news for you. My mum told me that we will be going to LA in November! I am so excited. We will be there for 3 weeks, I think and we'll be doing kind of a road trip/tour thing. I'm not completely sure of the details but I'll let you guys know then. I can't wait even though it is quite long wait (3 MONTHS).
Well, I have a test next week which I should study for so bye for now.

Minor issue

Hey guys, keeping this short and sweet.
I was sick for almost the whole of last week which means I have a ton of catching up to do school-wise.
I don't really mind, I still have time to blog but..
I have no idea where my camera usb is. I was taking a few shots for a post I had in mine when the batteries depleted. I couldn't find the usb to connect it to the charger so my camera is dead.
If I can't find the usb soon, I'll just get my dad to pick up another one but until then..
Cheerio!

brushes or sponges
Brushes. I think they apply makeup a whole lot better.

NAILS:

OPI or china glaze

OPI. Just because I have never tried China glaze

Long or short

This is a little tough. I hate my nails being short as they look a little awful but then again long nails are kinda scary so uhh short, I guess.

Flower. I like designs on my nails (but i am crap at DIY).

BODY:
perfume or body splash

Body splash. I like that is light and not over-powering.

lotion or body butter

Lotion. Body butter to me is more for dry skin during cold weather but where I live it is summer all year so lotion is more suitable. I do like the scents of body butters better though.

bobby pins or butterfly clips

Bobby pins. Life Hair-savers are those little things.

hair spray or gel

Hair spray. I hate the way my hair becomes sticky because of gel.

long or short

Long. I rather medium but most say, because I have a small face, short hairstyles suit me better but I had a bad experience when I was 10. Maybe I'll overcome it someday.

light or dark

Dark. I have jet black hair.

side sweep bangs or full bangs

Side swept. Mine are in need of a trim.
